Daybreak
Daybreak is a compact oil painting, measuring 2 by 3 inches, where color takes the lead in an energetic, abstract composition. A strong diagonal streak of deep blue cuts across the center, surrounded by layers of red, orange, and yellow that meet and move against each other with conviction. The edges and background hold deep black tones, enhancing the contrast and adding weight to the vivid colors’ flow. This piece was created entirely with a palette knife, letting the texture build up thickly to bring depth and an intense sense of movement. With Daybreak, I wanted to simply let color find its own way—bold, unrestrained, and alive.
